How the Underline Is Made

No new letters are used. A small line mark is added after every letter, and your app draws the line. That is why the line can look slightly different from one app to another.

Single underline is the cleanest. Double underline and overline are decorative.

Underline Without Confusion

In many apps an underline means a link. If your text is not a link, readers may be puzzled. Use underline on short titles and key words only.

Our strikethrough and underline guide explains the limits, and the strikethrough text generator does the line-through version.

How to Use It

Type or edit the text in the box. Each result updates as you type. Press Copy next to the style you like, then paste it into your bio, caption, chat or username. If you see empty boxes after pasting, that app lacks the symbol, so try another style.
