Character Counter: Free Copy and Paste

A character counter shows how long your text is as you type. It counts characters, words and lines, and checks your text against common bio limits.

About This Character Counter

Check length before you style a bio, since styled letters can use more space than plain ones.

Where People Use It

  • Fit a bio inside a platform limit.
  • Check a caption before posting.
  • Count words for a short note or ad line.

How the Counts Work

The tool counts characters, words and lines as you type. It also compares your text with common limits for Instagram, X, TikTok and meta descriptions.

Spaces count as characters, as most apps count them.

Why Styled Text Needs a Margin

Some apps count a styled letter as two. Leave a small safety margin, around ten to fifteen characters, if you use cool fonts.

Read character limits and cool fonts for the full explanation.

How to Use It

Type or edit the text in the box. Each result updates as you type. Press Copy next to the style you like, then paste it into your bio, caption, chat or username. If you see empty boxes after pasting, that app lacks the symbol, so try another style.
